Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt
Our 5 Days from Fes to Merzouga Desert begins in Fes, a vibrant city known for its historic medina. From Fes, we will travel southwards, passing through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we will visit the charming town of Ifrane, often called “Little Switzerland” due to its European-style architecture and pristine gardens. Besides, continuing our journey; we will stop at Azrou, a Berber village known for its cedar forests and the opportunity to see Barbary macaque monkeys. Finally, we will reach Midelt, a town nestled in the High Atlas Mountains, where we will spend our night.
Day 2: Midelt – Merzouga
After breakfast, we will continue our journey through the magnificent landscapes of the Atlas Mountains, passing by Ziz Valley and Erfoud, a gateway to the Sahara Desert. Finally, we will arrive in Merzouga, a small village located on the edge of the vast Sahara Desert. In the late afternoon, we will embark on an unforgettable camel trek into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi; witness the stunning sunset over the desert, and spend the night at a traditional desert camp, surrounded by the peacefulness of the Sahara.
Day 3: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi
On the third day, we will have a full day to explore the Sahara Desert; we will wake up early to witness the magical sunrise over the dunes and take part in various desert activities. Besides, you can choose to explore the area on a 4×4 off-road excursion; visiting nearby nomadic villages and learning about their way of life. Alternatively, we can try sandboarding down the dunes or simply relax and soak in the tranquil atmosphere of the desert. In the evening, we will enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner at the desert camp and experience traditional music and dancing around the campfire.
Day 4: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Ifrane – Fes
After breakfast, bid farewell to the desert and began our journey back to
Fes. firstly, we will pass through the scenic Ziz Valley; known for its lush palm groves and picturesque landscapes. And we will continue our drive through Midelt once again, and then head towards Ifrane, where we can take a stroll through the beautiful town and enjoy its serene atmosphere. Finally, we will return to Fes, where we will spend the night.
Day 5: Fes Sightseeing and Departure
On the final day; we will take the opportunity to explore the cultural and historical wonders of Fes. Begin with Visiting the famous Fes Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and discover its narrow winding streets, bustling souks, and magnificent architecture. Besides, we will explore attractions such as the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque, the Bou Inania Madrasa, and the Chouara Tannery. We can put ourselves in the rich history and vibrant culture of this ancient city. Afterward, depending on your departure time, you’ll be transferred to the airport or your next destination, marking the end of 5 Days from Fes to Merzouga Desert.
