Experience a fast-paced and deeply immersive 6 Days Morocco Desert & Imperial Cities Tour from Casablanca across Morocco, departing from Casablanca and concluding in Marrakech. This expertly curated tour bridges the country’s majestic imperial history with the breathtaking landscapes of the Sahara Desert. Discover coastal capitals, ancient Roman-influenced imperial centers, the lush cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, and the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi, before crossing the dramatic High Atlas Mountains to the vibrant Red City of Marrakech.
Your 6-day Morocco tour begins with a convenient morning pick-up from your hotel in Casablanca. After a brief exploration of Casablanca’s key cultural sights, your journey continues north to Rabat, Morocco’s political capital, where you will enjoy a short introductory tour of its historic monuments. Afterward, drive through the historic city of Meknes before arriving in Fes late in the day, where you will settle into a traditional riad or hotel for a restful night.
Dedicate your full day to exploring Fes, widely recognized as the oldest and most spiritually rich city in Morocco. Wind your way through the dense, labyrinthine alleys of the UNESCO-listed medieval medina. Key highlights of your guided sightseeing include the magnificent brass gates of the Royal Palace, the historic Jewish Mellah (the first of its kind built in Morocco during the 16th century), and the legendary Al Qaraouine University—the oldest operating university in the region.
Continue your tour through the vibrant traditional tanneries, the Attarine Museum, and the sacred Moulay Idriss Mausoleum. Following lunch, visit local artisan cooperatives and enjoy a sweeping panoramic viewpoint overlooking the entire expanse of the ancient Fes Medina before returning to your riad for the evening.
Leave Fes behind as your journey heads deep into southern Morocco. Drive through the Middle Atlas mountains, stopping at Azrou to explore the cool cedar forests and catch a glimpse of the local Barbary macaques. Continue your scenic drive past Midelt and through the dramatic Ziz Valley, featuring a refreshing stop in Erfoud and the historic town of Rissani.
By late afternoon, you will reach the edge of the breathtaking Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga. Transition from your vehicle to an experienced camel guide for a 90-minute camel trek across the golden sands. Arrive at your desert camp just in time to witness a spectacular sunset over the dunes, followed by a warm traditional dinner and an evening of music around the campfire under the open desert stars. Overnight stay in authentic Berber tents.
Rise early to catch a magnificent sunrise casting shifting light across the desert dunes, followed by a transfer to a local hotel to freshen up and enjoy breakfast. Depart Merzouga and travel through Rissani and Tinghir toward the dramatic Todra Gorge, renowned as the highest and narrowest canyon in Morocco. Enjoy lunch right by the gorge before driving through the lush Dades Valley, where you can admire the famous geological rock formations locally known as “Monkey Toes.” Overnight stay in a local hotel or guesthouse in the Dades Valley.
On the fifth day of your tour, travel along the scenic route toward Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate, famously celebrated as the “Hollywood of Africa.” Take the opportunity to visit local film studios and historic fortresses before exploring Ait Ben Haddou, the largest and most famous fortified kasbah in Morocco and a designated UNESCO World Heritage site. Afterward, cross the majestic High Atlas Mountains via the spectacular Tizi-n-Tichka Pass, arriving in Marrakech by evening for an overnight stay in a traditional medina riad.
After breakfast, embark on a guided exploration of Marrakech, the vibrant “Red City” of Morocco. Your cultural tour features iconic landmarks including the stunning Majorelle Garden, the towering Koutoubia minaret, the historic Saadian Tombs, and the elegant Bahia Palace. In the afternoon, enjoy free time to roam the bustling souks at your leisure or relax before your transfer back to Casablanca, marking the successful conclusion of your unforgettable 6-day Moroccan adventure.
